im not a big fan of cheats or cheaters but i am curious, are there cheats on here? alot of games have cheats on computers such as empire earth, age of empires and numerous other strategy games. so does this game have cheats?

(im mostly asking this for many of my friends who cheat who don't want to waste time to make an entire post on the topic, their lazy)

you can mod to the point of cheating. though i dont recommend it if you don't know what your doing
on Jul 14, 2008
lol k thx kyro and tommyth3cat i did that a minute ago tho it would be nice to mod the build speed
on Jul 14, 2008
their is a attribute tied to build speed, i have no idea what it is though, its probably in each specific ship dat file.
on Jul 14, 2008
No there is a universal one, hence why you can hit + and double the game speed. You can also change the speed of the game befor you go in so obviously there is some univeral quality.

Overall build speed can be modded in the gameplay.constants file. Search for buildSpeedData and change the values accordingly. Then when you start a new game, select which build speed you modded.

POSSIBLE CHEATS:

For Windows Vista

Basic Cheat, Difficulty: 1
ALL ACHIEVEMENTS

C:\Users\USERNAME HERE\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire\Setting

Open Achievements and change the achievements you want to TRUE

Advanced Cheat, Difficulty: 5, Time: Long
CHANGE STARTING RESOURCES
[Whereever you installed sins to]:\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

Example:
F:\Sins of a Solar Empire\Galaxy

Open the indivisual files with a WORD PROCESSING PROGRAM and you can change the data.

Example from file: Ancient Gifts

These are the levels that the planet developement starts as.

homePlanetUpgradeLevel:Population 3
homePlanetUpgradeLevel:CivilianModules 1
homePlanetUpgradeLevel:TacticalModules 0
homePlanetUpgradeLevel:Home 1
homePlanetUpgradeLevel:ArtifactLevel 10
homePlanetUpgradeLevel:Infrastructure 2

These are the maximum the levels can be.

Population Max: 4
Civilian Modules Max: 2
Tactical Modules: 2
Home: 1
Artifact Level: 2
Infastructure: 3

If you scroll down you will see the amount of Credits, Crystal, and Metal players start off with.
IT DOES NOT MATTER WHICH ONE YOU CHANGE. The starting positions are randomized, so change one of them to what you want, and just keep reloading the map until you get that spot.

EXAMPLE:

player
designName "NewPlayer0" <------ This is the players spot.
inGameName "NewPlayer0" <------ This is the name
overrideRaceName ""
teamIndex 0
startingCredits 3000 <------ How much Cash you start with, MAX: Unknown
startingMetal 800 <------ How much Metal you start with, MAX: Unknown
startingCrystal 250 <------ How much Crystal you start with, MAX: Unknown
isNormalPlayer TRUE <---- You are a playing character
isRaidingPlayer FALSE SEE NOTE A
isInsurgentPlayer FALSE SEE NOTE B
themeGroup ""
themeIndex 0
pictureGroup ""
pictureIndex 0

NOTE A

You do not raide automatically like the Pirates, Turn to True to make the game more interesting, but keep the bounty off yourself lol.

NOTE B

You do NOT auto spawn at opponets bases and start attacking them, Turn to True to make the game more interesting.

POSSIBLE CHEATS:

That's just modding. As to the achievements, they don't unlock anything, so you're only cheating yourself out of achieving them the honest way
on Jul 15, 2008
I dont actually use the achievements cheat because it is better to try to earn them. Its basically the only real goal of the game.
on Jul 15, 2008
umm, i have a question, if you change the build speed in the game file, it changes all build speed for everyone, is there a way to change starting money/build speed for just a single player?
on Jul 16, 2008
Might be possible to change starting money for a certain player in Galaxy Forge, but I'm not sure. Don't think you can change speed for one person, unless you change it for a faction and are the only one to use that faction.
on Jul 16, 2008
You can change the Starting money for a certan player, (you neew to load, quit and load, until you get the modded credits and supplies)
on Jul 17, 2008
mmm okay thx
